MyUS blog Community Scholarship Recipient 2019

As a global business, MyUS understands the importance of educating future generations of our international community. To support this cause, we recently launched a scholarship program, which aims to support students using cross-cultural experiences as an inspiration to create positive changes in their communities.

MyUS is proud to announce the inaugural recipient of our Community Scholarship for the 2019-2020 academic year, to a student who has realized the power of using their education to connect with the community.

Congratulations to Oluwadara Olagbaju from Ile Ife, Nigeria!

In Oluwadara's application, she shared her story of immigrating to a new country, and the challenges present with such a huge transition. This experience, in addition to travel in Peru, Mexico, and Nigeria, opened her eyes to the disparities present in access to health care and services around the world.

Rather than being disheartened by encountering these disparities, Oluwadara found her calling in life. This calling has led her to pursue a career in healthcare at UCLA's Master's Entry Clinical Nursing Program, with hopes to improve the lives of others around the world through increased access to healthcare. As Oluwadara wrote in her application, “I do not simply want to be just a healthcare professional, but somebody who inspires change within her community.”

Please join us in congratulating Oluwadara, and in wishing her the best in her studies! We hope her story inspires others to reflect on how they can use their education and experience to add value to the global community.
