With the 2012 Olympic Games underway in London and many customers shipping goods to England, we thought it would be a good time to review the list of items prohibited for shipping to the United Kingdom.

The United Kingdom prohibits import of antiques, works of art and fine art with values in excess of EU 50,000. In addition, other prohibited items include tax stickers, lottery tickets, pre-paid phone cards and cash-like instruments like coins, money and blank checks.

Several restrictions also apply to shipments to the United Kingdom. In general, the UK allows shipments of jewelry, but the country does not allow import of any jewelry that contains precious stones or precious metals. Laptop computer shipments are limited to one computer per shipment, and mobile telephone packages may have no more than two phones per shipment. Additional restrictions apply to costume jewelry, designer clothing, pharmaceutical products and watches.

Average transit times to ship from the U.S.A. to the United Kingdom can be as short as three days, but delivery times depend on the destination area and delivery options chosen at the time of shipping. Whether you live in the United Kingdom, are visiting the UK for the games or shop from any of the other 200+ countries we serve, being knowledgeable about your country's import legislation can help you ship your items in a seamless and cost-effective manner every time!
