Our favorite Indian cookbook of the year is without a doubt Indian-ish: Recipes and Antics from a Modern American Family. It's a colorful cookbook written by food writer Priya Krishna in loving tribute to her mom's "Indian-ish" cooking, including clever, practical, and easy-to-make recipes such as Malaysian Ramen, Roti Pizza, and Whole Roasted Cauliflower with Green Pea Chutney. And because this cookbook is punctuated with Priya’s funny and relatable stories and illustrations by acclaimed Desi pop artist Maria Qamar, it's as much a joy to read as it is to cook from.

"Delicious Indian food, made easy and approachable," says Caitlin in her Amazon review.

She even includes suggestions for swaps and substitutions, so you'll never feel stuck when you come up missing an ingredient or two.

"Carla's book is genius. In an approachable way, she helps think about what you eat, from both the base ingredients you procure, but also as important, the methods of cooking you employ. You'll get delicious easy to follow recipes here, but more importantly, you'll learn methods so you can improvise." says Benson in his enthusiastic product review.
